How It Works & Programming
How exactly does the gauge calculate my remaining water?
Instead of sensors inside the tank, the Topargee uses a small internal turbine inside the inline flow meter. As water is pumped out of your tank and through your pipes, it spins this turbine to measure the exact volume (in litres or gallons). It then deducts that amount from your programmed tank capacity, acting exactly like a digital countdown fuel gauge for your water.
How do I program my tank size into the system?
Programming is done entirely through the Topargee smartphone app. Once connected via Bluetooth, simply go to the settings menu and enter the total combined capacity of your freshwater tanks (for example, 150 litres). The module saves this number as your 100% full mark.
What do I need to do when I refill my water tanks?
Whenever you fill your RV's water tanks to 100% capacity, just open the app and tap the "Reset" button. This instantly resets your gauge back to your maximum programmed capacity, ready to start counting down your usage again.
What if I only partially fill my water tanks?
Because the Topargee measures water flowing out rather than the physical level sitting inside the tank, it relies on you starting from a full tank. If you only add a small amount of water (a partial fill), you should not press the reset button, as the app will assume the tank is completely full and give you an inaccurate reading.
Can I do a partial fill if I measure the water going in? (The Workaround)
Yes! While the Topargee gauge is designed to count down from a 100% full tank, you can easily work around this if you know exactly how much water you are adding during a partial fill.
To do this, you will need to measure the water going into your tank (for example, by using a 10L jerry can, or by attaching a digital water flow meter to your fill hose).
Once you know exactly how much water you added, you can use the below
The App Reset Method
-
Check your Topargee app to see your current remaining water (e.g., 20 Litres).
-
Add the amount of water you just put into the tank (e.g., you added 40 Litres. 20 + 40 = 60 Litres total).
-
Go into the app settings and temporarily change your "Maximum Tank Capacity" to this new total (60 Litres).
-
Hit the "Reset" button. The gauge will now accurately count down from 60 Litres. (Note: Just remember to change your Maximum Tank Capacity back to its true 100% size the next time you do a complete fill-up!)
Can this meter be used for my grey or black water tanks?
No, this gauge is designed exclusively for your fresh water system. The flow meter must be installed on the pressurized line after your water pump. Grey and black water systems do not operate this way, and wastewater debris would immediately clog the flow sensor turbine.
Will the gauge help me detect plumbing leaks?
Yes, it can act as a great early warning system! Because the gauge measures any water passing through the pump, if you check your app and notice your water capacity is slowly dropping while all your taps are turned off, it is a strong indicator that you have a leak somewhere in your RV's plumbing.
